EPB Telecom Offers Fast, Fiberoptic Internet Servic

Feb-March 2004

EPB Telecom has begun offering business customers an affordable, all-fiber Internet solution that will catapult Chattanooga into a competitive position with other technology-driven cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles, according to EPB President Harold DePriest.

"EPB Telecom's all-fiber product is the future of high-speed Internet communications," DePriest says. "Through Mayor Bob Corker's great vision, we are now offering the most advanced Internet technology to businesses of all sizes throughout the greater Chattanooga area. This new technology will help existing businesses in our community become more successful in a global economy, and will be a tremendous asset in attracting new businesses to Chattanooga that rely on these technologies in their day-to-day operations."

EPB Telecom's all-fiber Internet service starts at 1.5 Mbps, the maximum capacity for most providers, and can be customized to provide up to 500 Mbps - capacity that is 300 times faster than traditional connections through T1, cable, and DSL, DePriest says.

DePriest points out that by connecting Chattanooga to the research corridor extending from Oak Ridge National Laboratory to the Marshall Space Flight Center of (NASA) in Huntsville, EPB Telecom's Internet product offers access to one of the most advanced research networks in the country, furthering Chattanooga's position as a technology center.

EPB Telecom's new Internet product is now available and will be expanding over the next few years to provide service throughout Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
