Work to Begin on Enterprise South Interchange

Posted October 2003

Mayor Bob Corker has asked the City Council to approve a contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation which will allow work to begin on a new interchange off I-75 which will serve Enterprise South Industrial Park. Much work has gone into lobbying past administrations and Governor Bredesen to fund an interchange to this important business recruitment site, and this contract will allow work to commence on this project.

In addition, Mayor Corker announced that Congressman Zach Wamp is working to secure a Congressional appropriation to fund the roadway that will connect the interchange to Enterprise South. Already significant monies have been allocated for this purpose, and Congressman Wamp is working hard to secure more funding for this important project.

"There is no higher priority in our community than fully developing Enterprise South in a way which attracts the largest number of high paying jobs to our community," Corker said. "We are very appreciative to Governor Bredesen, Congressman Wamp and Commissioner Gerald Nicely for their commitment to enhancing our economic development activities in Chattanooga."
